Er Srbija has announced the introduction of a new direct flight from Belgrade to Miami, set to commence on May 20, 2027. This expansion marks the airline’s third destination in the United States and its fourth in North America, following existing routes to New York and Chicago. The announcement comes amid significant interest, with the airline reporting a substantial number of bookings within the first week of ticket sales. Boško Rupić, Er Srbija’s Director of Commercial and Strategy, highlighted the demand for the Miami route, which has been released as a summer seasonal destination with plans to extend it into the winter season.
The Miami route is part of a broader expansion strategy by Er Srbija, which includes the introduction of six new destinations in 2027. These new routes will connect Belgrade to Yerevan, Helsinki, Cluj-Napoca, Chisinau, and Menorca. The airline plans to start flights to Yerevan on March 28, 2027, initially operating three times a week before increasing to four weekly flights by mid-June. The reinstatement of flights to Helsinki, which were previously suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will begin on April 1, 2027, with three weekly flights.
The new Miami service, scheduled to operate twice weekly, is a significant step in enhancing Serbia’s intercontinental connectivity. Rupić emphasized that no other airline in the region currently offers direct flights to Miami, positioning Belgrade as a central hub for travel between this part of Europe and North America. The route is expected to strengthen ties with North America and improve travel options to Latin America and the Caribbean.
In addition to the Miami route, Er Srbija will launch flights to Tromsø in northern Norway on December 14, further expanding its network into Scandinavian markets. The airline’s strategic expansion aims to bolster its presence in both regional and intercontinental markets, enhancing economic and tourism links.
The introduction of these new routes is part of Er Srbija’s ongoing efforts to expand its network and increase its competitiveness in the aviation sector. The airline’s decision to resume flights to Helsinki and expand into new markets like Yerevan and Tromsø reflects a commitment to rebuilding and growing its network post-pandemic. The new routes are expected to provide passengers with more travel options and stimulate economic and tourism growth in Serbia and the connected regions.
Er Srbija’s expansion strategy also includes plans to connect Belgrade with Cluj-Napoca in Romania and Chisinau in Moldova, beginning May 31 and June 3, 2027, respectively, with four weekly flights each. The addition of Menorca as a summer destination from June 16, 2027, will offer travelers another Mediterranean holiday option, marking Er Srbija’s ninth destination in Spain.
This expansion reflects the airline’s strategic vision to enhance connectivity and meet growing demand, as evidenced by the strong initial interest in the Miami route. While the airline has not disclosed specific pricing details, the early booking numbers suggest competitive pricing and strong market demand. The expansion is poised to have significant implications for Serbian tourism and international relations, potentially driving economic benefits and increased connectivity for the region.
