The Ekspo caravan made a vibrant stop in Knjaževac, Serbia, on August 15, 2026, as part of its nationwide tour to promote the upcoming Ekspo 2027, which will be held in Belgrade. This event, held in front of the local Cultural Center, aimed to familiarize the residents of Knjaževac with the activities and opportunities that will be available during the 93-day specialized exhibition next year.
The caravan event was designed to engage the community through a variety of interactive programs centered around games, music, and sports. It also provided a platform for showcasing local talents and traditions, highlighting the cultural richness of Knjaževac. Participants included students from the local folklore school “Kolo,” young singers from the Youth Artistic Network, students from the “Predrag Milošević” Music School, and dancers from the Cultural Center’s Dance School “Hani.” The sports segment featured demonstrations by the Knjaževac Sports Association and various local clubs, illustrating the town’s athletic prowess.
Nemanja Savčić, a project manager with Ekspo 2027, emphasized the caravan’s role in promoting Serbia’s tourist, economic, and natural capacities. He noted that the event is part of a broader initiative to introduce the Ekspo 2027 to citizens across more than 30 cities in Serbia. “We are pleased that the people of Knjaževac have the opportunity to attend our program and to see what Ekspo is all about through questions and our programs,” Savčić stated.
One of the key highlights of the Ekspo 2027 will be the “Serbian House Pavilion,” located in the Best Practices Zone. This pavilion will allow local municipalities to present their unique traditions, culture, and economic potentials. Savčić also mentioned the “Meet Serbia” program, which aims to encourage visitors to explore the country’s diverse regions beyond the exhibition, thus contributing to regional development.
The event in Knjaževac was not only a cultural showcase but also a call to action for volunteer participation. The volunteer program has already attracted 9,000 applications from 60 countries, indicating significant international interest. Savčić expressed hope that this initiative would provide young people with valuable knowledge and experience, aiding their career development.
Marko Stojanović, the president of the Knjaževac municipality, expressed pride in hosting the Ekspo caravan. He highlighted the honor it brings to the town and the opportunity for local youth to engage with a global audience at Ekspo 2027. “We hope our children and youth will join this journey towards the great event Ekspo 2027 in Belgrade and properly represent Knjaževac and, tomorrow, Serbia,” Stojanović remarked.
The caravan also featured a special innovation area, supported by Telekom Srbija, the platinum sponsor of Ekspo 2027. This space showcased modern technologies and digital solutions that will be integral to the visitor experience at the exhibition.
Ekspo 2027, scheduled from May 15 to August 15, 2027, in Belgrade, is expected to attract participants from over 130 countries. It will be the first time Serbia hosts such a large-scale international exhibition, with the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.” The event aims to enhance Serbia’s international image and promote its cultural and economic strengths on a global stage.
