President Aleksandar Vučić of Serbia emphasized the critical importance of economic growth, stronger industry, and continued investment during his participation in the GLOBSEC BELTALKS forum held in Belgrade. Speaking at a panel discussion titled “The Necessity of Adaptation: Competitiveness and Trade in a New Era,” Vučić highlighted the need for Serbia to adapt to the rapidly changing global market conditions to remain competitive. He underscored the significance of technological advancements in industry, artificial intelligence, and robotics as pivotal for Serbia’s future economic landscape.
Vučić’s remarks come as Serbia seeks to navigate the evolving economic challenges posed by global market shifts. He noted that the world has changed, and the global market is no longer what it used to be, necessitating a deeper understanding and adaptation to new circumstances. “We need more enthusiasm and ambition, to dream big dreams and set high goals. Without that, we will achieve nothing,” Vučić stated on his Instagram account, “buducnostsrbijeav.”
During the forum, Vučić engaged in a conversation with Robert Vaš, the President of GLOBSEC, discussing the changes taking place in Europe and their impact on the region. The dialogue focused on how Serbia can adapt to these changes while maintaining stability and accelerating its development. Vučić expressed satisfaction that Belgrade was hosting the BELTALKS, which gathers individuals to exchange views on challenges already transforming the European and global economy. “For Serbia, it is significant to participate in these discussions, clearly represent its interests, and seek new opportunities for the economy, investments, and development,” Vučić added.
In addition to the forum discussions, Vučić reflected on his recent meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. He described the encounter as productive, with a focus on strengthening the strategic partnership between Serbia and France. Vučić mentioned that they discussed various bilateral issues, including economic ties, investments, and Serbia’s European integration path. The meeting also touched on potential collaborations in nuclear energy and space-related programs.
Vučić’s emphasis on economic growth and investment aligns with his broader strategy for Serbia’s development. He has consistently advocated for maintaining Serbia’s independence and pursuing economic advancement. Past interactions with international partners, such as France and Uzbekistan, have highlighted strategic partnerships and the potential for collaboration in sectors like artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
The President’s statements at the GLOBSEC BELTALKS forum underscore Serbia’s ambition to position itself as a competitive player in the global economy. However, the specific details on how these strategies will be implemented remain unclear. There may be skepticism regarding the feasibility of achieving the ambitious goals set by Vučić, especially given the challenges of adapting to rapid technological changes and global market dynamics.
As Serbia continues to engage in international forums and strengthen bilateral ties, the government’s approach to economic growth and investment will be closely watched. Public reactions and expert opinions on the feasibility of Vučić’s proposed economic strategies could influence the country’s economic trajectory and its integration into the broader European and global economic systems.
