Er Srbija, the national airline of Serbia, has set a new record by transporting 616,479 passengers in August 2026, marking the highest monthly passenger count in the company’s history. This achievement represents a 10% increase compared to the same month in the previous year. Over the first eight months of 2026, Er Srbija has carried a total of 3,263,915 passengers, which is the highest number for this period since the airline’s inception.
The airline operated 5,743 flights from its hubs in Belgrade, Niš, and Kraljevo to more than 100 destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean, North America, Asia, and Africa. This operational expansion is part of Er Srbija’s strategy to enhance its service offerings and network reach, which has been supported by the airline’s loyalty program that provides various benefits to frequent travelers.
Jirži Marek, the General Director of Er Srbija, attributed this record-breaking performance to the dedication of the airline’s employees and the continuous improvement of its services. Marek emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards and expressed confidence that the airline would end 2026 with the best passenger numbers in its history. He stated, “This result was achieved thanks to the daily dedication of our employees, continuous service improvements, and the development of a strong network of destinations that offers travelers more opportunities to travel from Belgrade.”
Looking ahead, Er Srbija plans to expand its network further by introducing new direct flights from Belgrade to Tenerife, Seville, and Tromsø by the end of the year. Additionally, new routes from Niš to Vienna and Malta are set to be launched, alongside an increase in the number of weekly flights to destinations in Montenegro to meet rising passenger demand.
The record passenger numbers and the introduction of new routes underscore Er Srbija’s status as one of the fastest-growing airlines in the region. This growth reflects broader trends in the Serbian tourism and travel industry, contributing positively to the country’s economy. The airline’s expansion and improved connectivity are expected to bolster Serbia’s appeal as a travel destination and enhance its economic ties with other regions.
However, as Er Srbija continues to grow, there may be challenges related to sustainability and capacity management, particularly as passenger numbers increase. The economic conditions and their potential impact on future growth remain areas to watch, although the airline’s current trajectory suggests a robust performance in the near term.
