Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed the deployment of a new weapon, referred to as the “Pelican,” in a large-scale strike against Russia. This marks the first known use of the Pelican, which has sparked debate among military analysts regarding whether it should be classified as a tactical ballistic missile or a drone. The strike, which occurred on the final day of voting in Russia’s parliamentary elections, targeted key Russian oil and logistics facilities, reportedly causing significant damage and killing at least three people.

Ukraine’s defense industry has seen significant growth, with the domestic production capacity reportedly increasing 50-fold to $50 billion, meeting over half of the Defense Forces’ needs for weapons and military equipment. This expansion includes the development of new interceptor drones, which have been successfully used against Iranian-made Shahed drones deployed by Russia.
