Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has announced a new phase in the relationship between Serbia and the United States, emphasizing the importance of strategic dialogue as a pivotal moment for both nations. Speaking at the Innovation and Education Park of the Center for Demining in Velika Moštanica, Vučić expressed optimism about the future of Serbia-US relations, highlighting mutual respect and understanding as key components of this evolving partnership.
Vučić acknowledged the challenging history between the two countries, particularly referencing the difficulties faced in 1999 and 2008. However, he stressed the potential for a positive future, stating, “We cannot change the past, but we can influence the future.” He underscored the strategic dialogue as a significant turning point, fostering mutual respect and understanding. “We listen to each other,” Vučić said, indicating a shift towards more collaborative interactions.
The Serbian President also highlighted the importance of addressing critical issues, including security in Kosovo, which remains a contentious topic. He expressed gratitude towards the US for its recent efforts to prevent further tensions in Kosovo, particularly regarding the potential takeover of the Ibar Bridge by Priština. Vučić noted the significance of these discussions for the safety and security of the Serbian population in northern Kosovo.
