Over 540,000 school supply kits have been distributed to elementary school students across Serbia as part of an initiative to introduce them to EXPO 2027, set to take place in Belgrade next year. This effort, spearheaded by the company “EXPO 2027” d.o.o. Beograd, aims to motivate students to gain new knowledge and interests by familiarizing them with the upcoming international exhibition from the first day of the school year.
Each kit provided to the students includes essential school supplies such as notebooks, a block, a pencil, a class schedule, and a bookmark with interesting facts about international exhibitions. Additionally, schools received sports balls to encourage physical activity among students. Danilo Jerinić, the director of “EXPO 2027” d.o.o. Beograd, emphasized the initiative’s importance, stating, “We wanted every elementary student in Serbia to be greeted with a small token of attention at the start of the school year and to begin getting acquainted with what awaits them at EXPO next year.”
Jerinić highlighted that the visit to EXPO 2027 would be an opportunity for students to expand their knowledge, encounter new ideas, and potentially discover interests that could influence their future career choices. He noted the potential for students to meet various cultures, ideas, and possibilities at the exhibition, which could inspire them to decide on their future professions.
School directors have echoed the educational significance of the initiative. Dragan Mandić, director of the “Ivo Lola Ribar” Elementary School in Veliko Gradište, expressed optimism about the experience, stating that visiting the exhibition would allow students to see and experience what they learn in school firsthand. He added, “Our school has already had the opportunity to visit the exhibition space at the Book Fair, and I hope we will be among the first schools to visit the exhibition next year.”
Dušica Tričković, director of the “Radoje Domanović” Elementary School in Niš, also emphasized the educational value, pointing out that students could apply what they have learned in school and gain new ideas. She stressed the importance of developing functional knowledge, allowing students to see how theoretical learning is applied in practice.
Žaklina Lazarević, director of the “Vojvoda Putnik” Elementary School in Belgrade, noted the existing interest among students for the EXPO visit. She anticipates that the exhibition will provide valuable opportunities for students to engage with innovations, educational content, and workshops that extend beyond regular classroom learning. This experience is expected to be particularly significant for eighth-grade students who are on the verge of choosing their secondary education paths and future careers.
The school visits to EXPO 2027 are scheduled from May 17 to June 25, 2027, as part of an extracurricular educational program designed to cater to the students’ age, educational needs, and interests. The program will include free entry to the exhibition, organized transportation, and content tailored to the students’ educational levels. These visits are planned with parental consent and in compliance with all applicable regulations and rules.
EXPO 2027, which will be held in Belgrade, is anticipated to showcase a wide array of cultural and educational opportunities, drawing international attention to Serbia. Previous initiatives related to EXPO 2027 have included local events and programs aimed at promoting Serbia’s cultural heritage, underscoring the exhibition’s potential to serve as a significant cultural and educational platform for the country.
