Serbia has officially confirmed its participation in EXPO 2027, an international event set to take place in Belgrade from May 15 to August 15, 2027. This confirmation comes with the signing of a contract by the Privredna komora Srbije, marking Serbia as an official participant. The agreement was signed by Danilo Jerinić, director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, and Marko Čadež, president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, at the Belgrade Fair premises.
The EXPO, themed “Play for Humanity – Sports and Music for All,” will see participation from over 140 countries, including major global players such as the United States and Japan. The event aims to foster international collaboration and cultural exchange, highlighting Serbia’s commitment to these ideals.
Preparations for the EXPO are well underway, with significant infrastructure developments occurring in Surčin, where the EXPO complex is being constructed. This includes the building of a National Stadium, new roads, railway connections, and residential-business facilities, all intended to support the influx of international visitors and participants.
A crucial aspect of the EXPO’s organization is the recruitment of volunteers, with more than 20,000 needed to ensure the event’s smooth operation. As of now, 10,000 candidates from 119 countries have already applied to volunteer, indicating strong international interest and support.
The EXPO is expected to bring substantial benefits to Serbia, particularly in terms of tourism and local economic development. The event provides a platform for Serbia to showcase its cultural and natural attractions, with initiatives like the “Serbian House” pavilion designed to introduce visitors to the country’s tourist potential. This initiative aims to encourage visitors to explore beyond Belgrade, promoting regional tourism and long-term economic growth.
